There is new bar that quietly popped up right next to the Benedum Center downtown. The Warren opened this week and it looks and feels like a speakeasy. Spencer Warren has been known for his bartending skills all over the city and for the pop-up Christmas bar Miracle.
The Warren is open for lunch and does serve food with the attached Penn’s Cove. Inside of Penn’s Cove is also a vast wine and beer selection for those to-go-home moments.
All cocktails at The Warren are priced at $10 and wines by the glass are around $8-$11. Cocktails are gorgeous and delicious. As any speakeasy should have an Old Fashion; The Warren has Fred’s Old Fashion. It is a classic Old Fashion with a nod to Fred Rogers and a notable jab at the fact that The Warren was suppose to be a Mister Rogers themed bar.
My Honey’s Waggle has a name that make make you arch a brow and give a little giggle, but the fist sip will have you wanting more. The three words on the menu describe this drink as Honey, Herbal, Sour and sip after sip it was more citrus then expected.
The Warren has comfortable seating from some small tables and booths along the big windows to the bar stools that were rich in leather. Every small detail of the bar was dice and dominos to stay true to the gamblers of the speakeasy time. Also the bartenders dress the part with vests and button-ups. The music was amazing and every little bit was fun and interesting.
The Warren can be found at the corner of Liberty and 7th. Hours are Mon-Fri 11AM-2AM and Saturday 5PM-3AM and Sunday 5PM-2AM. For more information and full menu of food and drink visit https://www.thewarrenpgh.com and check them out on Instagram.
