It was a feverish competition pinning restaurant against a restaurant for the coveted first place trophy of best Oyster Shucker.

The monthly Shuck and Suck will be held at Merchant Oyster on the first Monday of every month from 9-11PM. The teams have two minutes to shuck and eat as many oysters possible.  The winner gets invited to the following month's competition and a trophy that boasts their accomplishments.  There is also a second place trophy and a popular vote which was met with outrageous screams.

The first night was a competition between Merchant Oyster, The Commoner, Colonia Restaurant and Black Radish.

Merchant Oyster did win the first round with 14 oysters shucked and eaten. Black Radish did Winn the most popular trophy.  Below is the video of the trophy’s being awarded.

This event also coincides with Merchant Oyster’s industry night which will have specials like 1/2 Narragansett and 1/2 Oysters (Subject to change) from 9-11.

We did have dinner before and enjoyed some cocktails. Our dinner included Peel and Eat Shrimp, Crab Grilled Cheese, a Lobster Roll and a Whoopie Pie for dessert. Our cocktails were a Manmosa and Smitty Island. For more information visit https://www.merchantpgh.com.
