In the past few years Pittsburgh has surged ahead with technology and the arts, but nutrition has been only focused towards fitness with bustling yoga scene and bike lanes. A Path Forward Workshop is geared towards changing that.
A Path Forward is hosted by Ali Shapiro, MS, CHHC and a nationally recognized health coach on Thursday, February 9 from 6:30-8:30 at the Frick penthouse. Dinner will be included. For more information check out alishapiro.com.
If your New Years resolution included to lose weight or eat healthier and now is a struggle due to energy and mental stress; a Path Forward is an opportunity to align your health mentally and allow you to focus on nutrition.
Ali developed Truce with Food health coaching to aid in the disconnect between mental health and food. “Just like different diets work for different people, each person self-sabotages for unique reasons,” she added. “You have to transform the disconnect between the real you and what brings you into battle. The focus is on you, not the food. It’s a subtle, yet profoundly different goal, focused on getting your personal agency in shape.”
Ali graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Masters degree in Organizational Dynamics, with a concentration in coaching and change management. She's also a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, the Institute for the Psychology of Eating and studied functional medicine.
Her work has been highlighted in Wall Street Journal, Redbook, Cosmopolitan, NBC Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Inquirer and is a regular contributor to Arianna Huffington's new Thrive Global wellness publication.
Ali can also be heard on her podcast Insatiable and can be reached at alishapiro.com.
