Beautiful-The Carol King Musical

When I was a little girl my mother cleaned the house everyday. It would only take about two hours and what I remember the most about that time was the music. Lionel Richie, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Diamond and Carol King.

Last night it was that exact memory of my mother that made me cry during "You've Got a Friend" in the last few scenes of the play.

The play wasn't all waterworks. There is this great story how Carol King overcame a few negative aspects of her life to become the chart topper she was. I also didn't know of all the other songs she wrote for that time. The song "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" by The Righteous Brothers was hers and it invoked goosebumps a giggles between me and my guy for our first date was Top Gun hence making that song one of "our" songs.

The musical was also so entertaining when the drama was so thick the comedy was placed so well that it was such a relief. All the Actors nailed their parts and I was very into all of the story.

The best was that Carol King was a female that stood up to some negative aspects and still came out on top. She stood up for herself against her mother, the record execs and eventually her husband who was a handful. She married and had kids young and then was faced with a cheating husband. She was a powerful songwriter for her time and produced so many great songs.

Overall this was one of the best I have ever seen. If you have a chance to go this weekend please do.
