And, we're not talking about a family or class reunion. We're talking clowns, and acrobats, and elephants! (Okay, different clowns, and acrobats, and elephants?)
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus is at Consol Energy Center through November 8th. (http://www.consolenergycenter.com/events/detail/ringling-bros-and-barnum-bailey-circus-1) I had the pleasure to be Amanda's +1 for the evening. And, I can't think of a better way to have spent my birthday than with a darling friend - at the circus!
Just so we're clear, I've been to a Ringling Bros. show before. But, it's been more than a decade. Newfangled technology (i.e. fancy light screens and laser lights) and a fantastic orchestration of talent made the show that much more amazing this time around. I seriously felt like I was five years old again. And, I was completely okay with it.
Ringmaster, Johnathan Lee Iverson, tells us a story filled with beings of earth, air, fire, and water. And, the show unfolds with a menagerie of clowns, amazing acrobatic feats, and of course the world-renowned pachyderms.
Although the majority of folks brought their children, it is truly a show for all ages. Amanda and I are in our 30s and we went together. The group sitting next to us was also comprised of non-children-toting women. Even though we were surrounded by families with small children, our experience did not revolve around them. Amanda and I shared some brief commentary at some points. The woman seated to my left also had moments she voiced her wide-eyed wonder at the scene set before us.
In a very brief nutshell - I recommend taking the opportunity to head to the circus this weekend. Although there are so many things I want to say about it, I don't want to spoil the opportunity for you to see it for yourself! (But, you can check out some of the photos and videos that Amanda and I have from our night out.) Check out our Instagram for the snippets.
