Eddie Korbich does an excellent portrayal of the flamboyant and often drunk author as he realizes that Christmas might not be the same now that he has outed most of his rich friends through this one interview. He proceeds to discuss his life right to the audience sipping vodka, smoking pot or hash, and eating chocolate. He exhibits moments of manic depression and OCD when he constantly adjusts items on his coffee table. The most amazing thing about TRU is that the entire play is just a one man show. It is Eddie playing Truman talking for about two hours with only a 15 minute break. The intermission was strategically placed towards the end of the play instead of right in the middle to show the overnight had gone quickly. When the play continued after it was only about 20 minutes long, which was shocking since I expected another hour at least.
Overall TRU was a great show that gave in behind the scenes look at a great author of our time. Pittsburgh Public Theater houses TRU through May 22nd at various times throughout the week.
