Bloody Mary is a staple in the Pittsburgh brunch scene and for years every brunch serving restaurant has worked to perfect the Bloody Mary. It was about time that Pittsburgh had it’s own Bloody Mary Festival; or two of them.
Two very different festivals are happening this spring with one common theme: The Bloody Mary. Bloody Mary’s is called the hangover cure and has grown in complexity over the years. It started simple with Tomato Juice and Vodka with celery as a garnish and has grown to even have mini cheeseburgers on top at certain locations. The two festivals will bring the best Bloody Mary bars from across the city to be crowned the best in the burgh.
Sunday’s Best Bloody Mary Fest is on June 24th at the Heinz Lofts. The event takes place from 11AM-3PM and is hosted by Winslo6 and sponsored by Heinz Lofts and Ketel One Vodka. Thirteen local bars will be highlighted along with some of the best food trucks serving brunch items. There are three ticket levels: General Admission, VIP and a designated driver and start at $20. There will also be a DJ and other vendors. Vendors include The Beerhive, Federal Galley, Paul Family Farms and Pittsburgh Smokehouse. Tickets are on sale now and more information can be found at http://www.pghsundaybest.com.
On May 20th The Stage at Karma will be overflowing with Bloody Mary’s and a brunch buffet for the masses. Hosted by Pittsburgh Libations Week and The Stage at Karma; The Bloody Mary Festival is slated for find the “Best Bloody in the Burgh”. There will be unlimited Bloody Mary Samples with a garnish bar for toppings. If you purchase a VIP ticket there is a VIP Lounge and brunch buffet. If you are not a Blood Mary person there will also be a Mimosa Bar at the event. Tickets are available at http://jamesstreetpromotions.com/event/pittsburgh-libations-weeks-bloody-mary-festival/.
Enjoy Bloody Mary’s at two festivals this spring. Watch them compete for the “Best in the Burgh” and munch of some amazing brunch.
