If you’re a Pittsburgher, you either love snow or hate it. I think this was exquisitely apparent in my newsfeed throughout Winter Storm Jonas. If you’re anything like me, you fall into the latter category: the snow haters. For those of use who prefer tropical destinations and climes, winter is a popular time to travel there with an All-Inclusive Resort package.
All-Inclusive resorts come in all shapes and sizes. There are Adults-only resorts, family friendly places, resorts perfect for destination weddings and honeymoons, and everything in-between. Do you like heading south of the border? Mexico has lots of options! Prefer an island? The Caribbean has many choices as well!
When flying out of Pittsburgh, I would say the two most popular destinations are probably Cancun/Riviera Maya and Punta Cana. This is because there are tour operators that offer charter flights right from Pittsburgh International Airport! ‘What exactly is a charter flight?’ you may ask. It’s a non-stop service to fly you directly to your destination, and it’s operated under the tour company. This allows for great package pricing, and it makes it a “one stop shop” for your tropical getaway.
Now, it’s important to know that All-Inclusives have a large price range; and they are not all created equal. Depending on what’s important to you, however, a travel professional can point you in the right direction and help you choose the right package for your family and budget. Most All-Inclusive locations will include your hotel stay as well as a majority of the food and beverages (including alcohol). There are sometimes “upcharges” for certain specialty restaurants (think like they have specialty restaurants on most cruise lines).
Most All-Inclusive Resorts also include at least some activities. Others, like Sandals, include all activities including water sports and sometimes even golf! It’s important to check out exactly what is and isn’t covered before heading off – this saves disappointment when you arrive at the resort with incorrect expectations. There are also excursions that can be booked ahead of time, similar to a cruise line (for an additional cost).
There are multiple major tour operators that provide All-Inclusive packages; each has its benefits as far as pricing and perks. Again, travel professionals can easily make sure that all facets of your vacation are taken care of with the tour operator perfect for you, making your trip truly worry free and inclusive of all the elements you desire. Special pricing packages are available, and there are some fantastic deals out for these winter months!
So, if you’re like me, ready to ditch the cold and head somewhere warm, consider an all-inclusive package!
