Just outside of the city sits a brand new winery inside of a very modern castle. Vinoski Winery located in Rostraver used to be a single private home. In July the family-run winery opened the doors to the public.
The grapes used at Vinoski Winery is shipped in from Napa Valley, Sonoma and Lodi California. The Vinoski wines are then made from the “Free Run” process where they refrain from pressing the grapes which can cause astringency. Vinoski Winery then goes a natural fermentation process that helps in preserving the wine for ages. Lastly, Vinoski wines are aged in hand-selected French oak barrels.
The winery is a combination of modern and old style décor. The upstairs tasting room is modern and sleek that has a modern kitchen off to the side and an enormous foyer as you enter. In the downstairs tasting area and bottle shop are more classic wood cut bars and marble floors. The downstairs extends out to a patio with tables and then spills into some rolling hills. Along the hills is picnic tables for those warm summer days. On the grounds is also a basketball court, baseball field and a small pond with a fountain in the middle.
While visiting Vinoski Winery there are a few options for food. You are able to bring your own food like a picnic and snacks. Caters are sometimes on site and rotate. On the evening we attended catering was provided by Above and Beyond Catering. Lastly, there are small bites like cheese and crackers in the tasting room downstairs.
Vinoksi Winery is available for private events including weddings. Regular hours of operation are every day but Monday from 11-6 and until 9 PM on Friday and Saturday. For more information visit http://www.vinoskiwinery.com or find them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Cheers!
