Breakfast during the week is a rare commodity in Pittsburgh. Recently with the Hotel boom that is going on, new spots for breakfast have opened in places like downtown and Lawrenceville. The Brick Shop opened with tasty pastries and eccentric cocktails.
The Food of The Brick Shop
Breakfast started with coffee as all great breakfast should. Then as a warmup, I indulged in an Almond Croissant filled with vanilla creme. This fantastic pastry his delivered fresh daily from Mediterra Bakery in Robinson. Everything on the menu looked amazing; I opted for the Cast Iron Pancake. The thick pancake smothered in molasses, cultured butter, and sea salt is tasty and plentiful.
Part of the story of The Brick Shop is all food is locally sourced and prepared delicious and straightforward.
Visit The Brick Shop
The best part of the ambiance of breakfast at The Brick Shop was the morning light that came in through the windows. As you enter into the main area, there is beautiful stone flooring that cascades into a large bar area. A brick fireplace is the main focal point of the dining area. Large wrap-around booths line one wall while bench seating lines the other two. Small to medium tables sprinkle around the floor everywhere else.
The Brick Shop is currently only open for breakfast with plans for lunch and dinner service soon. The Brick Shop is in the basement of the TRYP Hotel at 177 40th Street, Lawrenceville. For reservations and more information visit https://brickshoppgh.com/home/
