I have been such a cocktail person lately. Cocktails and wine. Southern Tier in Pittsburgh had me sipping a cocktail, drinking beer and eating a fantastic burger, all while enjoying the patio. For my latest excursion to Southern Tier I was invited by the duo from Discover the Burgh and joined by Alex Eats Too Much.
Ask any Craft Beer Guru about favorite beers, and you may hear a 2XIPA or S’mores is somewhere on the list. These favorites are just a small part of an extensive beer list at Southern Tier.
On my patio session this Monday night, I enjoyed a flight of beer. Five small pours of your choice. I eagerly filled out my card. I chose the following:
Raspberry Milkshake: IPA Milkshake
Lake Shore Fog: IPA-New England
Swipe Light: Pale Ale-American
Dabble: IPA-Imperial (Sixpoint Brewery)
Nu Juice: IPA-American
A highlight is the Raspberry Milkshake and the Nu Juice. They are tart, sweet, and smooth.
Southern Tier in Pittsburgh serves a delicious menu to pair perfectly with the beer of your choice. For an appetizer, we ordered the Fried Cauliflower and the Beer Braised Wings that came with a serving of each of the sauces: Buffalo, Honey Bourbon, and Garlic Parmesan.
For my main dish, I enjoyed Brewer’s Burger. A juicy burger topped with IPA mustard, lettuce, tomato, American cheese and bacon on a brioche bun. The Brewer’s burger, paired with a side of fries, is tasty and perfect.
Breweries like Southern Tier and Dogfish Brewing have branched into distilling which allows the tap rooms to have an exceptional cocktail menu. I enjoyed a Ginger Cosmo.
