Share on Centre and Cambria Reopens

By: Amanda Narcisi

“It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh” is one of our favorite sayings here in the Burgh. The area around PPG Arena is always abuzz with people. We always say that Pittsburgh Penguins games are always great nights out with dinner and drinks accompanying a great night of action on the ice.

There is a new spot around the area for dinner that was pushed to open with the season opener and then followed by a renovation of a hotel that is always full of out of town and overnight guests during the games.

Cambria Suites on Centre right past PPG Arena is under a renovation that will highlight how beautiful our city looks from the lobby. The renovation has the new lobby and bar as a focal point. There was three phases of the renovation that started with the suite rooms with new carpet, bigger televisions and sleeper sofas. The lobby will have various seating including lounges and tabletops. There will also be a new bar area and a few televisions for local games and promotions. The grand reopening is scheduled for Tuesday, December 13th, from 5PM-9PM.

In the downstairs of the hotel is a restaurant that was the second phase of the renovation. Share on Centre is filled with fun and hearty food. It provides a large bar and outdoor patio that highlights the city and PPG Arena. It is currently open during events only and has a few fun plays on Penguins like cocktail names. Chef Joe Nolan came up with a delicious menu.

The food and cocktails were amazing and fun. I started with a Stanley Cup cocktail with Captain Morgan, brewed tea, fresh pineapple, orange and grapefruit juices. Then we sampled a pickle platter and charcuterie and huevos diablos trio; a platter of deviled eggs that featured smoked buffalo chicken, chili lime shrimp and a traditional deviled egg with bacon.

The second period brought us more starters. (Get it…Period and Starters…The hockey puns) We had potato chip nachos with smoked chicken, charred shishito peppers, fried pickles (made with fire & smoke pickles from Pittsburgh Pickle Co.) and the best wings: Japanese confit wings. They were wings marinated for 24 hours with soy, sake, mirin, ginger, garlic and Thai chili sauce.

The third period brought us entrees with a healthy harvest salad, a smoked brisket, fish tacos and two burgers. The Dirty Burger is cooked with bone marrow and has a house special sauce. The mushroom fondue burger with gruyere cheese and a mushroom fondue with a Breadworks bun. The brisket and the mushroom fondue burger was served with hand cut fries.

Overtime contained dessert which was a brownie sundae with pecan ice cream from Dave and Andy’s in Oakland.

Some of the items mentioned above are part of the menu and others are tests to add to the menu later.

Whether you are headed to PPG arena for a game or concert consider making a night out of it with dinner at Share on Centre and a room stay for the night. For hotel reservations check out and for more information on Share on Centre check out Facebook, Twitter and Instagram all @cambriapgh. Cheers!
